Minimally Invasive Interventions for Nontraumatic Splenic Disorders

I mage-guided, minimally invasive arterial interventions are increasingly performed in the treatment of nontraumatic splenic disorders as an alternative to surgery. This article reviews various nontraumatic clinical applications for splenic arterial interventions, including hypersplenism, sinistral portal hypertension, nontraumatic splenic hemorrhage, and vascular anomalies. Technical and anatomic considerations, as well as potential pitfalls in splenic arterial embolization are summarized.
